Job summary

LOA Osteoporosis Center in Mount Pleasant, SC is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Office Coordinator to manage patient charts, coordinate referrals, and support scheduling across three LOA office locations. You will assist with pre-exam results, maintain records, and ensure HIPAA compliance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience preferred in a medical office, healthcare setting, patient coordination, referral coordination, or similar role.
  • Knowledge of healthcare terminology and general medical office processes preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, families, providers, and referring offices.
  • Experience with electronic medical records and scheduling systems preferred.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and organize patient charts, documentation, laboratory results, imaging reports, and medical records for provider review.
  • Coordinate new patient referrals, obtain missing records, communicate with referring offices and patients, and assist with scheduling.
  • Room and escort patients to exam areas.
  • Obtain and document basic patient measurements, including height and weight.
  • Prepare exam rooms and non-clinical materials for appointments.
  • Track patient flow and support an efficient patient experience.
  • Coordinate appointments, maintain provider schedules, confirm appointments, and relay non-clinical messages.
  • Provide scheduling and non-clinical appointment and testing information.
  • Route clinical questions, medical concerns, medication questions, and refill requests to providers or clinical staff.
  • Assist with referral follow-up and communication among patients, referring providers, and the Osteoporosis Center.
  • Assist with obtaining pre-exam laboratory or diagnostic results.
  • Verify demographic, insurance, scheduling, and administrative information.
  • Scan, upload, file, and maintain patient records.
  • Complete documentation, administrative tasks, operational checklists, and other assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, privacy, and OSHA requirements.
  • Support the operational needs of the LOA Osteoporosis Center without independently performing clinical functions

  • CMA certification is preferred but is an optional requirement
  • Ability to travel to three LOA office locations, including North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, and West Ashley
  • Ability to comply with HIPAA, organizational privacy requirements, and OSHA requirements
