Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Senior Safety Manager to lead the Zero Injury Safety program on large solar and data center projects. This role requires onsite work with a rotating travel schedule, with potential relocation to NM or Texas.

You will guide safety leadership, manage risk, and mentor safety staff across multiple teams. The ideal candidate has extensive construction safety experience, CSP preferred, and a strong ability to communicate policies and drive safety improvements across complex

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or related field.
• High school diploma plus CHST and OSHA 500 with 14+ years of experience in safety leadership.
• Eight years as a dedicated safety professional on large projects.
• Experience with large, complex projects with many subcontractors.
• CSP preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to travel up to 100%.
• Knowledge of EEO and affirmative action plans.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lead, and manage Zero Injury Safety Program elements across the operating group.
• Lead safety program collaboration across organizations, trades, and JV partners.
• Conduct site hazard assessments with project management during planning and construction.
• Develop, schedule, and conduct safety training and orientation content.
• Oversee documentation, tracking, and OSHA reports for safety metrics.
• Monitor onsite activities via audits, noting deficiencies and corrective actions.
• Lead incident reporting, investigations, and analysis; coach safety managers.
• Provide mentorship to Safety staff and enable learning opportunities.
• Maintain knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and applicable standards and procedures.
• Support safety leadership to achieve metrics and assist in incident response.
