Job summary

Altria Client Services LLC is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer in Richmond, VA to lead and enhance safety programs across manufacturing and non-manufacturing facilities. This role requires a Bachelor's in Safety and 5+ years of safety management experience, with travel up to 10% and CSP preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related field.
  • 5+ years of safety management and compliance experience in manufacturing or consulting industry.
  • Basic knowledge of environmental requirements within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams and collaborating effectively across boundaries.
  • Critical thinking, decision-making, and project management skills.
  • Experience using data analytics and Power BI for metrics and reporting.
  • Proven ability to establish positive relationships with regulatory staff and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel 10%.
  • Capable of wearing PPE as needed.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.

Are you passionate about workplace safety and looking to join an established team of experienced safety professionals? Have a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, or related field? Have five years of safety management and compliance experience in manufacturing or consulting industry? If so, we want to speak with you! We are currently recruiting for a Senior Safety Engineer to join our Safety, Health and Environmental team. This position is in Richmond VA with an Onsite work schedule; relocation benefits will be provided.

What you'll be doing:
  • Strategically enhance our Safety Management Systems and related processes to support the company's purpose, vision and culture to reduce loss and risk to the business. Independently applies regulatory/technical/innovation principles and techniques to drive process integration into business operations focused on risk elimination and best practices. Recommends technical alternatives and supports improvements.
  • Drives team development either within operating companies or across enterprise to enhance behavioral practices and business performance. Integrates knowledge of requirements and regulatory/industry best practices throughout teams to drive employee ownership and compliance.
  • Leads and/or participates in projects, conducts project reviews, provides key insights, requirements, and recommendations to eliminate risk, enhance compliance, and drive innovation. Prepare business justifications, projectscopesand budgets.Identifyqualified vendors and consultants and direct their activities.
  • Conducts formal risk assessments in Altria manufacturing and non-manufacturing facilities to identify, prioritize and abate significant risks to the business. Provides guidance to the business on risk reduction opportunities and abatement strategies. Integrates results of risk assessments into operating company plans and budgets.
  • Lead or support complex investigations, regulatory agency inspections/inquiries, and provide litigation support.
  • Serve as the facility safety engineer for Richmond area locations. Manage the location's safety and health programs in conjunction with location management. Requires periodic site visits.
What we want you to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health or a related field
  • 5+ years of safety management and compliance experience inmanufacturingor consulting industry.
  • Basic knowledge of environmental requirements within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams and collaborating effectively with colleagues from diverse technical backgrounds and across organizational and functional boundaries.
  • Critical thinking, decision-making, and project management skills.
  • Using data analytics and visualization platforms such as Power BI for performance metrics and reporting.
  • Proven abilityestablishingpositive relationships with regulatory agency staff and networkingwith stakeholders.
  • Willing to travel 10%.
  • Capable of wearing personal protective equipment as needed.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

The starting salary is based on but not limited to experience, knowledge, and qualifications in determining compensation decisions. The Salary Range for this position is: $91,500.00 - $132,750.00.
