Job summary

Altria is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer I to lead manufacturing capability projects in our Richmond, VA facility. You will manage Cap/Ex initiatives, interact with multi-functional teams, and uphold technical standards while expanding knowledge in engineering processes.

The role requires a mechanical or chemical engineering background with 3+ years of experience, strong leadership and communication, and the ability to work onsite with occasional travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering is required.
  • Minimum 3+ years of proven experience in engineering, manufacturing, or related field; process engineering experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership and project management skills with experience leading technical projects and presenting scope, timelines, and budgets to senior leadership.
  • Willingness to take initiative and accountability.
  • Ability to apply equipment or process knowledge to analyze and troubleshoot machinery in support of maintenance personnel.
  • Proven ability to balance multiple priorities in a changing environment.
  • Make decisions using independent judgment with minimal direction when required.
  • Ability to work onsite during normal hours and support back shifts, weekends and travel as needed, though minimal.

We are currently seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer I to join our team in Richmond, VA. You will lead manufacturing capability projects in our world class manufacturing facility.

What you will be doing:
  • Independently lead Cap/Ex projects with associated scope and budgets of $1-$5 million annually
  • Make formal presentations and interact with multi-functional teams on projects
  • Maintain technical standards, principles and business processes and be willing to grow knowledge of the same
  • Develop work priorities and plans based on business objectives
  • Serve as an onsite technical resource in your area of specialization
  • Prioritize resources when participating in multi-functional projects or leading department projects within budget guidelines
  • Transform own technical and business knowledge into solutions others can use
  • Engage regularly with business customers to understand their needs and expectations
  • Take action to pursue opportunities to innovate, enhance or simplify while balancing risk
What we want you to have:
  • Bachelor's degree required in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering field.
  • Minimum 3+ years proven experience in engineering, manufacturing, or related field. Process engineering experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership and project management skills with the experience leading technical projects and presenting scope, timelines, and budgets to senior leadership.
  • Willingness to take initiative and have accountability
  • Proven ability to apply equipment or process knowledge and technology to analyze and troubleshoot machinery problems in support of factory maintenance personnel.
  • Possess a proven track record of balancing multiple priorities in a changing environment.

  • The ability to work onsite during normal work hours and support back shifts, weekends and travel as needed, though minimal.

The starting salary is based on but not limited to experience, knowledge, and qualifications in determining compensation decisions. The Salary Range for this position is: $91,500.00 - $132,750.00.
