Job summary

Johnson & Johnson in the Orthopaedics division is seeking a Senior Robotics Systems Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team for a complex surgical robotic platform across its full lifecycle. You will ensure cohesive behavior across hardware, software, controls, and clinical workflows with rigorous systems engineering.

You will partner with clinical, commercial, and product management stakeholders to translate user needs into robust requirements and drive regulatory submissions

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in multidisciplinary systems engineering.
• Experience with Class II or Class III medical devices is preferred.
• Knowledge of embedded systems, firmware/software testing, and electromechanical systems.
• 5+ years of experience in surgical robotic systems or complex multidisciplinary medical devices.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and product development lifecycle.
• Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama, Polarion).

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary systems engineering team responsible for system architecture, functionality decomposition, and testable system-level requirements.
• Own end-to-end requirements lifecycle, ensuring traceability from clinical needs through verification and validation.
• Drive collaboration across hardware, software, controls, mechanical, clinical, and V&V teams.
• Lead system architecture development for robotic systems and ensure tight integration of hardware, software, control algorithms, sensing, and user interaction.
• Lead system-level risk management activities in accordance with ISO 14971, including risk verification and residual risk assessment.
• Own and lead software subsystem requirements with detailed use cases aligned to robotic performance.
• Ensure compliance with design control activities and regulatory requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
• Chair system-level design and risk reviews and drive alignment for regulatory submission and product release.
