Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Principal Robotics Systems Engineer to lead all aspects of systems engineering for a surgical robotic platform. The role spans the full product lifecycle, coordinating hardware, software, controls, and clinical workflows to deliver safe, reliable medical devices.

The position requires collaboration with regulatory, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure design control compliance and successful product launches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems/Software/Mechatronics or related field required.
• 7+ years in multidisciplinary systems engineering preferred.
• Experience with medical devices and regulatory frameworks a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering for a complex surgical robotic platform and define clear system requirements.
• Own end-to-end requirements lifecycle with traceability from user needs to verification.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration across hardware, software, controls, and V&V teams.
• Lead system architecture development and ensure robust integration of subsystems.
• Define and maintain system interfaces and specifications across domains.
• Ensure compliance with FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, IEC 60601/62304 and related standards.
