Job summary

Johnson & Johnson MedTech seeks a Principal Robotics Systems Engineer in Boston, MA or Grenoble, France, to lead the system engineering for a surgical robotics platform across its lifecycle. You will own the end-to-end requirements flow-down and ensure robust, testable system and subsystem requirements.

You will drive cross-functional collaboration across hardware, software, controls, and V&V, align architecture with safety-critical clinical workflows, and contribute to FDA/ISO compliant design

Qualifications

• 7+ years in multidisciplinary systems engineering.
• Experience with Class II or Class III medical devices preferred.
• Knowledge of embedded systems, firmware/software testing, and electromechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of systems engineering for a complex surgical robotic platform.
• Own end-to-end requirements lifecycle with traceability from user needs to verification.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration across hardware, software, controls, mechanical and V&V.
• Lead system architecture development for electromechanical integration.
• Lead system-level risk management per ISO 14971 with residual risk assessment.
• Own software-related system requirements and use cases aligning with workflows.
• Ensure design control activities comply with FDA/ISO requirements.
• Lead system-level design reviews and readiness for regulatory submissions.
• Define, control, and maintain system interfaces and specifications.
• Drive reliability design and DoE across development.
• Collaborate with HF and Clinical Engineering for usability.
• Lead regulatory compliance activities and audits.
