Job summary

Rex.zone in Quito is seeking a mid-to-senior robotics software engineer to design, implement, and validate autonomy features across perception, localization, planning, and control. You will work with ROS/ROS2 on Linux, develop with Python and C++, and collaborate with hardware, ML, and product teams to deliver reliable, QA‑friendly robotics software from simulation to real hardware.

Qualifications

  • Mid-Senior experience delivering robotics software to real hardware or production simulators.
  • Strong ROS/ROS2 proficiency and Linux-based development experience.
  • Foundations in kinematics, dynamics, control theory, and motion planning.
  • Proficiency in Python and C++, plus debugging, profiling, and automated testing.
  • Experience with cameras, LiDAR, IMU, sensor fusion, and perception pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver autonomy-stack features (perception, localization, planning, control) with clear interfaces and documentation
  • Build and maintain ROS2 nodes, messages, launch files, and parameters for scalable deployments
  • Implement motion planning and control (trajectory generation, MPC/PID tuning, kinematics/dynamics integration) with latency and stability targets
  • Develop simulation-first workflows (Gazebo/Isaac-style), domain randomization, and regression test suites
  • Define data capture & labeling specs and annotation guidelines for perception datasets
  • Create evaluation harnesses and metrics (mAP, IoU, pose error, drift, collision rate, task success rate)
  • Run QA evaluation: calibration checks, sensor health monitoring, log review, incident triage
