Job summary

Bright Vision Technologies is seeking an experienced Autonomous Systems Engineer to design and integrate software for autonomous robots. You will work across the full robotics stack—from sensor integration and perception to motion planning and control.

You'll use C++ and Python, ROS/ROS 2, and real-time systems in production projects, collaborating with product, design, engineering, and operations. Mentoring junior engineers and maintaining thorough runbooks and docs are also expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of robotics software engineering experience.
• Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop robotics software in C++ and Python with real-time performance.
• Design sensor data pipelines including cameras, LiDAR, IMUs, and proprioceptive sensors.
• Implement perception, localization, and mapping including SLAM and sensor fusion.
• Develop motion planning, control, and trajectory generation algorithms.
• Build behavioral systems using state machines, behavior trees, or task planners.
• Integrate ROS / ROS 2 with custom hardware and embedded systems.
• Implement safety-critical patterns including watchdogs, fault detection, and safe stops.
• Build simulation environments (Gazebo, Isaac Sim) for development and testing.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and ML engineers to align on technical approaches.
• Design and execute field tests, including data collection and analysis.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for onboarding and audits.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Evaluate emerging robotics technologies and make grounded recommendations.
