Job summary

Simbe is seeking a Principal or Staff Robotics Perception Engineer to bridge perception and robot software. You will own production perception pipelines, including object detection, segmentation, depth estimation, and localization, and you will help translate CV capabilities into reliable navigation and customer-facing intelligence.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in robotic perception or related production robotics work.
• Proficient in Python and C++ in Linux environments.
• Hands-on ROS/ROS2, sensor pipelines, and deployed robotics systems.
• Experience with model tools: PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, TensorRT, CUDA.
• Proven track record applying perception to navigation and localization.
• Ability to deploy real-time AI on embedded/edge hardware.
• Strong debugging, benchmarking, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own production perception pipelines: detection, segmentation, depth, tracking, calibration.
• Bridge CV and robot autonomy by integrating models into robot codebase.
• Improve real-time performance on hardware with Python, C++, CUDA, and edge pipelines.
• Advance perception R&D in visual SLAM, depth estimation, and multimodal perception.
• Define benchmarks linking model quality to robot outcomes.
• Diagnose production failures using logs, imagery, telemetry and outputs.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship at the intersection of AI and robotics.
