Job summary

Intuitive Autonomy is seeking a Senior Robotics Perception Engineer in San Jose to build multimodal perception pipelines for autonomous caregiving robots. You will work with camera, LiDAR, and sonar data, fusing modalities and developing pose estimation for people and objects, while collaborating with planning and control teams to deliver reliable perception on real-world robotic platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field with 3+ years industry experience.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python, with ROS 2 experience.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch or TensorFlow) for object detection/segmentation.
• Hands-on model deployment with TensorRT/ONNX or embedded inference engines.
• Experience with sensor fusion and multi-object tracking.
• Familiarity with BEV perception, occupancy networks, or semantic segmentation.
• Knowledge of camera, LiDAR, IMU calibration, time synchronization, and rigid-body dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Develop models/algorithms to detect, classify, and track objects using camera, LiDAR, and sonar data.
• Fuse camera and LiDAR data into robust, real-time perception pipelines.
• Develop and integrate pose estimation models for people, wheelchairs, and other objects.
• Implement sensor calibration, time synchronization, and coordinate frame transformations.
• Evaluate perception performance using real-world data, simulation, and benchmarks.
• Collaborate with planning, control, localization, and systems teams to integrate perception outputs.
• Evaluate advances in AI, sensor fusion, and robotics to improve perception capabilities.
