Job summary

Intuitive Machines is seeking a Senior Surface Mobility and Robotics Mechanisms Engineer to join our Maryland robotics center in Glen Burnie. You will lead the design, fabrication, and test of rover mechanisms, traction drives, actuators, and a 7-DOF manipulator for a Mars EDU mission.

The role requires deep experience in bearings, geartrains, lubrication, and space hardware development, with cross-functional collaboration across structures, avionics, and software teams.

Qualifications

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field; MS/PhD preferred.
10+ years of experience in mechanical and electromechanical systems.
Expertise in bearing design, geartrain analysis, seals, lubrication.
Experience procuring flight hardware, vendors, budgets, and schedules.
Proficient with Creo and Windchill; GD&T knowledge.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end rover EDU build and outfitting.
Design and validate traction drive and steering actuators.
Develop specs for actuators; oversee procurement and testing.
Own vehicle superstructure and sensor packaging.
Coordinate integration and test at Maryland facility.
Interface with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanisms.
