Job summary

Intuitive Machines seeks a Senior Surface Mobility and Robotics Mechanisms Engineer to join our Maryland robotics center in Glen Burnie. You will lead end-to-end rover EDU design, build and testing, coordinating cross-disciplinary teams to deliver robust mobility and robotic capabilities for spaceflight demonstrations.

Requires 10+ years in mechanical design, Creo/ GD&T proficiency, and domain knowledge of actuators, bearings and control systems.

Qualifications

BS in Mechanical Engineering; MS/PhD preferred.
10+ years in mechanism design and aerospace hardware.
Experience with rover/spaceflight mechanisms is a plus.
Proven ability to manage end-to-end procurements and schedules.
Proficiency with Creo, Windchill, and GD&T required.

Responsibilities

Serve as end-to-end Product Design Lead for Mars rover EDU build and outfitting.
Lead traction drive and steering actuator design and integration.
Develop specs for actuators; oversee testing and characterization.
Design vehicle superstructure for sensors, solar, thermal, and comms.
Integrate 7-DOF robotic manipulator and tools; develop ConOps.
Coordinate assembly and test at Maryland facility.
Create assembly/test procedures; design test rigs and data methods.
Collaborate with Demonstration and Autonomy leads on tests.
Interface with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanisms.
Perform bearing, gear, lubricant analyses; simulate dynamics.
Generate CAD drawings; perform tolerancing and checks.
Represent mechanisms engineering at reviews.
