Job summary

Intuitive Machines is seeking a Senior Surface Mobility and Robotics Mechanisms Engineer to lead the design, development, and testing of rover EDU hardware at our Maryland facility in Glen Burnie. You will manage end-to-end vehicle mechanisms from traction drive to robotic arms, coordinating cross‑disciplinary teams and overseeing verification and mission demos.

The role requires 10+ years in mechanical engineering, expertise in bearing/geartrain design, actuators, and CAD/PLM tools; hands-on

Qualifications

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field; advanced degrees preferred.
10+ years of experience in mechanical/space mechanisms engineering.
Expertise in bearing design, geartrains, seals, lubrication, actuators and controllers.
Experience procuring flight hardware, vendors, budgets, and schedules.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end Mars rover EDU design and outfitting.
Oversee traction/steering actuator design and integration across mobility system.
Define performance specs for actuators and manage testing/characterization.
Generate CAD drawings and perform tolerance and interference analyses.
Coordinate across structures, thermal, avionics and software teams.
Represent mechanisms engineering in reviews with customers and programs.
