Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking an experienced Roadway Project Engineer for its Southwest Region in Texas, with positions in Houston, Round Rock, San Antonio, or Tyler. The role involves leading designs and coordinating with subconsultants on transportation and civil projects.

A BS in Civil Engineering and 8–12 years of roadway design experience are required, along with PE and OpenRoads Designer proficiency. Strong client coordination and commitment to quality are essential.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
• 8–12 years of roadway design experience.
• Must have proven skills in meeting DOT expectations, schedules and budgets.
• PE license is required.
• Experience with DOT design methods, plan preparation, standards, and specifications.
• Proficient with OpenRoads Designer.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening in line with federal/state guidelines.
• Valid driver's license and a satisfactory MVR.

Responsibilities

• Familiarity with calculating plans quantities and engineering estimates, developing construction specifications, and coordinating with subconsultants.
• Leading or assisting in the development of project designs and directing EIs and designers to execute and deliver project work.
• Preparing and modifying reports, specifications, plans, schedules, and designs for projects.
• Work as part of a team on transportation and civil design projects and support business development efforts.
• Adheres to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manual.
