Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking an experienced Roadway Engineer to support its transportation practice. The engineer will work with a team on planning and design of transportation projects, including interchanges, new roadways, widenings, roundabouts, interstates, and bike/pedestrian facilities.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, a Virginia P.E. or eligible by comity within 6 months, and 11–15 years of related roadway experience.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree required.
• P.E. license in Virginia or eligible via comity within 6 months.
• 11–15 years of roadway engineering experience (VDOT preferred).
• Strong oral and written communication across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; manage multiple assignments.
• Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads, and AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Design horizontal and vertical roadway alignments and profiles.
• Develop roadway plans, cost estimates and profiles for transportation projects.
• Prepare construction specifications and technical reports.
• Collaborate with engineers on project delivery and design reviews.
• Maintain traffic design elements and roadside evaluation components.
