Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP seeks an experienced Highway Engineer to lead transportation projects from our Fairfax, VA office. You will guide design, oversee multi-modal roadway work, and coordinate with clients across the Mid-Atlantic and nationally.

The role requires a BS in Civil Engineering (ABET), a Virginia P.E. or eligibility through comity within 6 months, and 11–15 years of highway project experience. Proficiency in MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, and AutoCAD is preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• P.E. licensure in Virginia or ability to obtain via comity within 6 months.
• 11–15 years of highway engineering experience.
• Proficiency with MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of highway and transportation projects.
• Prepare and review construction plans, specifications, estimates and reports.
• Ensure compliance with AASHTO, FHWA, and state DOT standards.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables; mentor junior engineers.
• Serve as primary client contact and support business development through proposals.
