Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP seeks a senior roadway engineer in Fairfax, VA, to lead planning and design for transportation projects. The role focuses on supervising junior engineers, coordinating across disciplines, and delivering high-quality roadway designs for complex interchanges and new alignments.

The candidate will develop horizontal and vertical alignments, prepare plans, estimates, and reports, and collaborate with clients and subconsultants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Minimum 16 years of highway engineering experience, including VDOT.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Plan and design assigned projects, supervising junior engineers.
• Coordinate with other design disciplines to develop deliverables.
• Manage development of projects with clients and subconsultants.
• Design horizontal/vertical alignments and roadway plans.
• Prepare cost estimates, specifications, and technical reports.
