Job summary

Rumpke Waste and Recycling is seeking a Risk and Claims Manager to lead a team of claims professionals within the Loss Control department. The role focuses on planning, directing, and administering complex claims handling while analyzing trends to reduce risk exposure.

It requires strong leadership, analytics, and collaboration with safety and HR teams. The position is full-time and in-person at the corporate headquarters, with occasional travel to other locations.

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in commercial auto property damage and bodily injury claims.
• Minimum of 5 years direct claim team management experience.
• Substantial experience with insurance principles, practices, and terminology of loss reduction and loss control, as well as claims management, claims adjusting, reserving, and subrogation.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, direct, and administer claims handling.
• Manage claims team to ensure progress and timeliness.
• Provide technical guidance and direction to team members.
• Submit recommendations to Assistant General Counsel for complex cases.
• Review high-exposure claims and advise on resolution strategies.
• Support catastrophe response planning for large-scale events.
• Analyze historical claim data to present risk-reduction recommendations.
• Use dashboards to evaluate trends and improve processes.
• Develop and implement loss-control policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with safety, operations, and HR teams on loss-control programs.
