Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a Risk and Claims Manager to lead a team of claims professionals in the Loss Control department. This full-time, in-person role is based at the corporate HQ in Cincinnati, OH, with some travel to other locations.

You will oversee claims handling, guide complex file resolution, and drive risk-reduction initiatives across safety, operations, and HR teams. A strong background in insurance principles and 10+ years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in commercial auto property damage and bodily injury claims is required.
• Minimum of 5 years direct claim team management experience is required.
• Substantial experience with insurance principles, practices, and terminology of loss reduction and loss control, as well as claims management, claims adjusting, reserving, and subrogation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the overall planning, development, direction, and administration of claims handling.
• Manage the claims team to ensure timely progression of claims.
• Provide technical guidance and direction to team members on complex files.
• Exercise settlement authority within approved limits and submit recommendations for higher matters.
• Support risk reduction through loss-control policies and safety programs with cross-functional partners.
• Analyze historical claim data to develop actionable risk-reduction recommendations.
• Utilize databases and dashboards to monitor trends and improve workflows.
• Travel between offices as required.
