Job summary

Sonic Drive-In is seeking a General Manager to lead restaurant operations and the team to deliver an outstanding guest experience. You will oversee training, staffing, and performance, ensuring compliance with policies and safety standards, while driving efficiency and profitability.

The GM role requires several years of restaurant management experience, strong leadership, and a focus on cost control, customer service, and regulatory compliance to maintain Sonic’s high standards.

Qualifications

• Education – Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: Advanced studies in business, restaurant management, or related fields.
• Experience – At least three years of restaurant management experience (QSR preferred).
• Experience running a restaurant shift without supervision.
• Experience recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and managing employees.
• Knowledge/Skills – Labor and employment laws (federal, state, local).
• Knowledge of health and safety laws and regulations.
• Basic computer, math, accounting, and reading skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Problem-solving, multi-tasking, decision-making, leadership, time-management, and conflict-resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, manage, direct, coach, lead, schedule, and discipline staff.
• Manage compensation levels for drive-in employees per company guidelines.
• Supervise and manage all drive-in operations to deliver guest satisfaction.
• Handle opening/closing duties and guest/employee concerns.
• Plan and adjust food, labor, inventory to maximize cost-control and efficiency.
• Lead regular team meetings to uphold standards and service.
• Maintain drive-in recordkeeping and operational reports.
• Develop and manage local marketing and business performance plans.
• Ensure maintenance of drive-in and equipment; manage vendor performance.
