Job summary

Mercy Health – Youngstown seeks an experienced Respiratory Care Practitioner III to provide comprehensive respiratory care, assess patients, plan and implement therapies, and lead staff in a high-demand setting. You will monitor patient responses, adjust treatments, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the department.

The role requires a current respiratory care license, NBRC credentialing, and at least two years of experience across NICU/ICU and general care areas.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a Respiratory Care Professional (required).
• Competency in at least two environments (Nursery/NICU, PICU, ICU/CCU, ED, general care) (required).
• Current Respiratory Care License (required).
• NBRC credentialed (required).
• RRT (preferred).
• BLS/ACLS/PALS (preferred at hire, must obtain before direct patient care).
• NRP (preferred).
• CPFT (preferred).
• RPFT (preferred).
• ACCS NBRC (preferred).
• Valid driver's license (required for Home Care/DME).

Responsibilities

• Mentor staff and provide clinical leadership to advance respiratory practice.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and coordinate data collection.
• Act as shift Charge Therapist to ensure staffing and coverage.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care team for assessments and plan development.
• Perform and monitor respiratory therapies per physician orders; adjust as needed.
• Document care and maintain records; uphold safety and infection control standards.
• Educate patients and families on therapies, devices, and home care when applicable.
