Job summary

Citigroup in New York seeks a Mortgage Lending Officer to originate high-quality residential real estate loans for clients. This customer-facing role collaborates with retail branches, agents, and referral partners to drive mortgage sales and strengthen client relationships.

You will assess financial information, explain lending options, and coordinate with processors and underwriters to ensure timely closings while promoting Citi’s brand and maintaining compliance with policies.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of Residential Mortgage experience required.
• 1+ year sales, credit and/or finance experience preferred
• Proven product sales capability is required
• Experience with FHA/VA and conventional loans preferred
• Ability to articulate financial solutions and assess risk with clients

Responsibilities

• Consult with customers about financial situations and lending needs to help achieve home ownership goals.
• Collect and analyze financial information including income, assets, debts, cash flow, and credit history.
• Analyze financial information to assess loan qualification and lending solutions.
• Recommend lending solutions that best meet customer objectives.
• Advise customers on risks and benefits of alternatives.
• Promote Citi’s lending services to clients and referral sources.
• Visit customers outside Citi offices as needed to build relationships.
• Work with internal partners to support and grow customer relationships.
• Coordinate with Operations to provide documents for processors and underwriters and ensure timely closings.
• Drive mortgage business by developing relationships with Realtors, CPAs, builders, and others.
• Ensure compliance with laws, policies, and high ethical standards; protect Citi’s reputation and assets.
• Introduce Citi Wealth Teams to clients to expand relationships and cross-sell.
