Job summary

Delve Underground is seeking a seasoned Resident Engineer to lead construction management for heavy underground projects across our U.S. locations.

With 15–20 years of experience, you will supervise office personnel, coordinate with the Client, review documentation, and oversee field inspections to keep projects on time and on budget. This role requires a BS in Civil Engineering or related field, a PE license is desirable, and the ability to work swing or night shifts when needed.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering, Construction PM, or related field from an accredited college or university.
• PE license is desired.
• Minimum 15 years' experience with heavy infrastructure construction including tunnel and shaft.
• Knowledge of tunneling, microtunneling, HDD, and shaft excavation construction.
• Ability to manage concurrent assignments and supervise field personnel.
• Strong team building, analytical and technical communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and written/oral communication.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CAD knowledge and Primavera a plus.
• Willingness to work swing or night shifts when needed.
• Must meet physical requirements for field inspections.
• Certifications such as Hazwoper, Confined Space, Fall Protection are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage office personnel including Office Engineer, Community Liaison, Assistant Resident Engineers, and Inspectors.
• Advise the Client on critical project tasks and troubleshoot project issues.
• Review field paperwork including RFIs, submittals, schedules, inspection reports and logs, meeting minutes, permitting, and change management logs.
• Oversee and negotiate Change Orders, Overruns, and Claims.
• Run all construction field meetings.
• Oversee field inspections of the Contractor's work.
• Maintain professional relationship with the Prime Contractor to provide the Client with a high-quality end-product.
• Maintain open lines of communication with the Client to address conflicts and keep work on time and budget.
• Perform other tasks as deemed necessary to facilitate the construction work.
