Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to lead solar PV and integrated battery storage (BESS) project development across the US and internationally. You will drive preliminary designs, perform technical due diligence, and coordinate with Business Development, Execution, and Finance teams.

Ideal candidates bring extensive experience in PV and storage systems, proposal development, and energy project economics, with travel up to 15%.

Qualifications

Undergraduate engineering degree or equivalent technical field.
5+ years in renewable energy project development, design, analysis, and construction.
Proficiency with common renewable energy system modeling tools and packages.

Responsibilities

Energy production modeling for development projects (PVSYST, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
Battery dispatch modeling (Excel, Matlab).
Site evaluation (remote and in-person).
Project pricing and value engineering with a dedicated Estimator.
Create preliminary plant designs and layouts.
Recommend primary project equipment (inverters, PV modules, racking, batteries).
Technical diligence for new opportunities and third-party data validation.
Support for RFPs, Greenfield Development, and acquisitions up to 30% design.
Develop technical deliverables for RFP responses with internal or external consultants.
