Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Software Test Engineer to join our Veterans Affairs (VA) program. This 100% U.S.-based remote role requires strong programming skills (C#, Java, Python) and extensive testing experience across web apps and APIs.

You will design test plans, create scripts, execute tests, and report results within an Agile environment. The position emphasizes quality, collaboration, and the ability to work independently while mentoring junior testers.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Experience on complex software projects with high-quality deliverables.
• Experience with both manual and automated testing.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and SDLC.
• Proficient in writing/executing test cases and plans.
• Knowledge of Selenium/TestNG/JUnit and CI/CD tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures to meet standards and end-user requirements.
• Write test cases/scripts and identify data for test scenarios.
• Conduct walkthroughs with Test Managers, Project Managers, and Dev Leads.
• Perform and lead tests to ensure defect-free operation of IT systems.
• Document and communicate test results, and support issue resolution.
