Job summary

PerkinElmer is seeking a Senior Materials Characterization Support Specialist to act as a remote technical expert across North America.

You will triage, diagnose, and resolve complex hardware, software, and methodological issues for Materials Characterization platforms, supporting customers, field engineers, and internal teams while maximizing instrument uptime and first-time fixes. Remote work from US or Canada is supported, with travel up to 25% for training or field rides.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Biology, Chemistry, Electronics, or related discipline.
• MUST have expert level experience with Materials Characterization Instrumentation on a repair level as a Subject Matter Expert (5+ years).
• 5+ years' experience with at least two of FT-IR, UV-Vis, TEA.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary technical contact for customer inquiries via phone and email.
• Perform detailed remote diagnostics of complex equipment and software systems.
• Drive issue resolution toward remote fixes or well-planned service events.
• Identify root causes and document clear action plans to enable first-time-fix.
• Mentor colleagues and disseminate product updates and best practices.
