Job summary

CSAA Insurance Group in the United States is seeking a Senior Litigation Specialist to own complex litigated auto and homeowners claims, with a remote-first work model.

You will guide defense strategy, manage settlement opportunities, coordinate with counsel, and oversee discovery, trial readiness, and budget for outside counsel. The role requires travel and extended hours, with collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, insurance or risk management, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• High School diploma required.
• A proven experience handling insurance claims.
• Bilingual a plus.
• Proficiency in handling minor to sophisticated litigated claims.
• Extensive understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements and civil procedure.
• Ability to travel and to work extended hours and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of complex litigated claims involving first- and third-party auto and homeowners matters.
• Shape claim strategy by providing clear direction to defense counsel, evaluating settlement opportunities, establishing settlement authority, and actively participating in negotiations.
• Completes analysis of claim, which includes examining facts of the loss and other applicable factors.
• Creates discovery plan including depositions, retention of experts, IMEs, and accident reconstruction for first- and third-party claims which range from a minor to very sophisticated nature.
• Conducts comprehensive review of liability, damages, coverage, and risk to assess for individual independent settlement.
• Collaborates with defense counsel to identify strategy for negotiations and provides input as the face of the organization via phone or in‑person mediations and settlement conferences.
• Authorizes, approves, and monitors budget for outside counsel and uses bill review software to analyze defense expenses.
• Prepares and presents recommendations for litigated cases for review with local and executive management to the IELT level.
• Supports employee resource groups, mentoring employees, volunteering, joining cross‑functional projects, encouraging team member involvement in these activities.
• Travels as needed for role, including enterprise meetings, divisional/team meetings, and other in‑person meetings.
• Fulfills business needs, which may include investing extra time, helping other teams, etc.
• Ability to travel, to work extended hours and weekends, and willingness to have cameras when appropriate for onboarding and relationship building.
