UnitedHealth Group's Optum is seeking a professional coder for inpatient DRG coding in a full-time role. You will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG codes for facility services, maintaining coding guidelines and QA standards. Telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S.

is allowed with a dedicated workspace and secure data practices. Responsibilities include data abstraction, physician queries, staying current with coding updates, and collaboration with QM managers to ensure accuracy and productivity.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC (CCA, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC-H/COC, CIC, CCS-P, CPC).
• 3+ years inpatient DRG coding in an acute care facility setting.
• 3+ years ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and DRG coding using an encoder.
• Proficiency with Windows and Excel; experience with EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify assignment of ICD-10 CM/PCS, DRG, and abstraction per guidelines.
• Expert knowledge in Inpatient DRG Coding.
• Abstract additional data elements during chart review.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity.
• Query physicians when appropriate.
• Stay current with coding guidelines from QM Manager and Director.
• Participate in coding meetings and education.
• Additional responsibilities as identified by manager.
