Qualifications

• 3+ years of inpatient DRG coding in an acute care facility setting.
• 3+ years of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and DRG coding using an encoder.
• AHIMA/AAPC coder certification (CCA, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CIC, CCS-P) with annual maintenance.
• High school diploma or GED; proficient with Windows and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Identify ICD-10 CM/PCS, DRG assignments and abstraction for facility services.
• Expert knowledge in Inpatient DRG Coding.
• Abstract data elements during chart review when coding.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity per QM Manager and Director.
• Query physicians when appropriate.
• Participate in coding department meetings and training.
• Adhere to coding ethics per AAPC/AHIMA.
