Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is hiring for a remote, full-time ICD-10 coding role focused on inpatient DRG coding. The position supports telecommuting from anywhere in the United States, with standard hours and occasional overtime to meet business needs.

You will ensure accurate coding, adherence to guidelines, and ongoing performance and quality metrics. Requirements include AHIMA/AAPC certification and 3+ years inpatient DRG/ICD-10 coding experience, plus Excel and EMR proficiency.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of inpatient DRG coding in an acute care facility
• 3+ years of ICD-10-CM/PCS/DRG coding using an encoder
• AHIMA and/or AAPC certification (CCA, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC-H/COC, CIC, CCS-P, CPC) maintained annually
• Proficiency with Windows, Excel, and EMR systems

Responsibilities

• Identify assignment of ICD-10 CM/PCS, DRG, and abstraction per guidelines
• Expert knowledge in Inpatient DRG coding
• Abstract data elements during chart review as needed
• Maintain coding quality and productivity per Optum standards
• Query physicians when appropriate
• Stay updated with QM and Coding/Quality Management materials
• Participate in coding dept. meetings and education
• Additional duties as assigned by manager
