Job summary

AAPC, the world’s largest healthcare training and certification association, seeks a remote Emergency Department and Urgent Care coder with 5+ years of experience in facility and pro-fee coding. This role requires independence, strong problem-solving, and excellent communication.

You will code ED/urgent care records, apply modifiers correctly, stay current with coding rules, and adhere to HIPAA policies while delivering high-quality results from a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of coding experience in ED and urgent care.
• Pro-fee and facility coding proficiency.
• Ability to validate CPTs/charges and apply modifiers.
• Strong knowledge of Cerner and Epic.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail oriented with deadline-driven attitude.
• HIPAA security compliance awareness.
• Strong Excel/Word/computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Accurately code medical records for urgent care and emergency room services.
• Follow current ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
• Adhere to NCD, LCD, and CCI policies as necessary.
• Apply modifiers as appropriate.
• Work independently and meet project deadlines.
• Stay updated about new coding rules as codes change.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Meet and maintain department production and quality standards.
