Job summary

AAPC is seeking a remote Emergency Department and Urgent Care coder with at least 5 years of ED/UC coding experience. The role requires independent work, strong modifier and CPT/ICD knowledge, and proficiency with Cerner and Epic.

You will code ED/UC encounters, adhere to guidelines, and ensure HIPAA compliance while meeting productivity and quality targets. The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication, medical terminology mastery, and robust time management.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of coding experience in ED/UC coding.
• Strong knowledge of CPT/ICD guidelines and modifiers.
• Experience with Cerner and Epic systems.

Responsibilities

• Accurately code ED and urgent care encounters per ICD-10 and CPT.
• Apply modifiers appropriately and follow policy guidelines.
• Validate hard-coded CPTs/charges and maintain accuracy.
• Meet production and quality standards while working remotely.
• Stay current with evolving coding rules for ED/UC.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient information.
• Communicate clearly with team and management.
