Job summary

Patriot Software is hiring a Manager of Bookkeeping for a remote, direct-hire role. You will lead a 7-bookkeeper team, ensure GAAP‑compliant work, and balance client portfolios while serving as the escalation point for complex issues. Requires a Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance and 3+ years bookkeeping plus 2+ years in leadership.

Core hours are 8:00 AM–5:00 PM ET, Monday–Friday. Open to candidates in the United States; remote role with benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 3+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience, including monthly closes and reconciliations.
• 2+ years of experience managing or leading a team, with coaching and accountability.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and USA‑based accounting, payroll, and payroll tax.
• Proven ability to review books for accuracy and to communicate findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Bookkeeping team’s day-to-day functions: workload, portfolio balance, throughput, and coverage.
• Set and enforce GAAP-based bookkeeping standards and quality controls.
• Conduct regular quality audits of client books and coach based on findings.
• Assist with client accounts: new setups, clean‑ups, and monthly book closures.
• Handle escalated customer issues professionally and provide timely resolutions.
• Report on team performance and capacity to leadership against goals.
