Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Relay Field Technician in the Field Engineering team to calibrate, install, maintain, and repair protective relays and related equipment for reliable grid operation. You’ll plan commissioning, supervise resources, interpret wiring diagrams, and test relays, SCADA, and alarms.

The role requires 5+ years of substation field experience, strong communication, a valid driver’s license, and proficiency with MS Office. Travel to client sites across the US is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of field experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, testing and repairing substation relaying and control schemes.
• Experience in substation protection & control engineering; SCADA/Fault Data/SER/Integration-Automation equipment installation and testing.

Responsibilities

• Plan commissioning, lead resources, and ensure on-time testing with safety compliance.
• Interpret substation drawings and develop test procedures and isolation plans.
• Test relays, metering, alarms, and SCADA signals; troubleshoot field equipment.
• Lead and mentor junior field staff and provide technical support.
• Serve as subject-matter expert in protective relaying and lead small project teams.
