Job summary

Happen Bank is seeking a senior legal professional to provide strategic and tactical legal support for consumer finance activities and across member experiences. You will act as a trusted advisor to business teams, guiding product development, regulatory training, third-party management, and contract drafting.

You will monitor federal and state regulatory developments, ensuring operational readiness, and work with Compliance and Risk on investigations and examinations.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in one or more states.
• At least 10 years of combined law firm, government and/or in-house experience with at least 8 years in consumer finance.
• Experience advising on TILA/Regulation Z; ECOA/Regulation B; FCRA/Regulation V; BSA/AML; EFTA/Regulation E; TCPA, TSR, CAN-SPAM; FDCPA and/or state analogues; UDAAP; GLBA/Regulation P.
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing business environment and to hands-on execution of legal advice with business partners.
• Ability to manage multiple transactions and advise on novel issues.
• Strong collaboration with internal partners and external customers across departments and levels.
• Integrity and ability to have candid conversations with business leaders as needed.
• Understanding how to apply AI to high-stakes work with responsible use and governance.

Responsibilities

• Deliver strategic and tactical legal support for all activities in consumer finance and across member experiences.
• Advise business teams on product development, laws, training on consumer regulations, third-party management, and contract drafting.
• Monitor regulatory developments and advise on readiness and operations.
• Collaborate with Compliance and Risk on investigations, examinations, and risk-management activities.
• Identify issues and improve processes for consistent legal interpretation across the marketplace.
• Drive other matters aligned with Happen Bank’s strategic objectives and assist in additional assignments.
• May oversee other legal team members and support them to accomplish goals.
