Job summary

Happen Bank is seeking a Senior Counsel to provide high-quality legal analysis and strategic support for consumer finance activities. The role requires advising business teams on product development, regulatory compliance, and third-party management, with a hands-on approach to implementing legal advice.

You will monitor evolving laws and coordinate with Compliance and Risk to address investigations, exams, and risk controls, all while supporting the company’s hybrid, in-office collaboration

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed in good standing.
• At least 10 years of combined law firm, government and/or in-house experience, and at least 8 years in consumer finance law.
• Experience advising on TILA/Regulation Z; ECOA/Regulation B; FCRA/Regulation V; BSA/AML; EFTA/Regulation E; TCPA, TSR, CAN-SPAM; FDCPA; UDAAP; GLBA/Regulation P.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and tactical legal support for consumer finance activities across all stages of member experiences.
• Advise business teams on development of new products and services and on applicable laws and regulations.
• Monitor federal, state, and local regulatory developments and ensure operational readiness.
• Collaborate with Compliance and Risk on investigations and regulatory exams; support internal reviews.
