Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a senior structural engineer to lead analysis, calculations, and design for hydropower and hydraulic facilities in Austin, TX. You will inspect existing infrastructure and recommend remediation, acting as a dam‑safety SME and guiding project teams and production.

You will oversee project administration, quality control, and staff development, with emphasis on steel and reinforced concrete design and multidisciplinary collaboration to deliver safe, compliant solutions.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in structural or civil engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• Professional registration in at least one state.
• At least 11 years of related structural design experience, including steel and reinforced concrete.

Job description

Lead structural analysis, calculations, and design for hydropower and hydraulic facilities, and inspect existing infrastructure to recommend remediation. Serve as a dam-safety subject matter expert, lead project teams and production, oversee project administration and quality control, and provide technical guidance and staff development.

Requirements: Requires a bachelor's degree in structural or civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program, professional registration in at least one state, and at least 11 years of related structural design experience, including steel and reinforced concrete. Preferred qualifications include a relevant master's degree, familiarity with major building and structural codes, structural analysis software proficiency, and experience with Army Corps of Engineers projects and UFC.
