Job summary

The Jonus Group in Los Angeles is seeking a Commercial Surety Underwriting Regional Manager/Sr. Manager to lead a growing team and drive risk decisions across the territory.

The role combines in-office responsibilities with travel to client sites and partner locations, requiring strong underwriting, risk assessment and leadership capabilities. You will build strategic relationships, oversee pricing and profitability, mentor staff, and ensure adherence to company guidelines while delivering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline.
• 9+ years of underwriting experience.
• 4+ years of management experience.
• Certifications such as AF SB, CPA, or RPLU preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret business reports to support underwriting decisions.
• Oversee risk selection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability for the branch.
• Assess risk quality in alignment with company guidelines and standards.
• Review underwriting decisions and provide recommendations on extending surety credit.
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure effective communication across all levels.
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team and drive achievement of objectives.
• Make timely, informed decisions using independent judgment to support business goals.
