Job summary

Lumen is seeking a Lead Information Security Engineer to guide Red Team efforts across cloud-native and hybrid environments, balancing deep technical work with leadership. You will plan, execute, and report on ACE exercises, drive threat-informed testing, and mentor engineers to strengthen defenses.

The role emphasizes automation, risk-based remediation, and collaboration with security, product, and engineering teams to reduce risk and raise resilience in AI-enabled workloads.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information security, computer science, engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years in hands-on penetration testing, offensive security, or advanced security assessments; 7+ years in information security.
• Certifications in pen testing (GPEN, GWAPT, GMOB, OSCP, OSWE) or equivalent.
• Proven leadership of complex tests and adversarial exercises from planning to reporting.
• Deep expertise in MITRE ATT&CK, threat-informed testing, and cyber threats.
• Strong knowledge of AWS/Azure/GCP security including identity and cloud controls.
• Experience with OWASP, NIST, CIS controls and related frameworks.
• Advanced knowledge of networks, operating systems, identity, APIs, and scripting.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Serve as cybersecurity and Red Team SME, leading penetration testing, adversarial emulation, and threat-based assessments.
• Lead end-to-end planning, execution, and reporting across infrastructure, apps, cloud, APIs, databases, and identity systems.
• Direct ACE and Red Team engagements, coordinating stakeholders, managing risk, and delivering actionable findings.
• Provide technical leadership across concurrent initiatives while remaining hands-on with testing.
• Define testing strategies, review findings and risk, and guide remediation to reduce risk.
• Partner with incident response, engineering, and product teams to identify vulnerabilities and strengthen controls.
• Drive automation, tooling, process improvements, and AI/ML-enabled security capabilities.
• Communicate risks to executives and engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and security culture.
