Job summary

Lumen is seeking a Lead Information Security Engineer (Remote, US) to drive Red Team activities across cloud, on‑prem, and hybrid environments. You will lead advanced penetration testing, adversarial emulation, and threat‑informed testing, shaping security strategies with stakeholders across technology, product, and security teams.

The role blends deep technical hands‑on work with leadership, mentoring engineers, and guiding remediation efforts to strengthen defenses and resilience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Security, CS, or engineering.
• 5+ years hands-on penetration testing or offensive security.
• Professional certifications (GPEN, GWAPT, GMOB, OSCP, OSWE) or equivalent.
• Proven leadership of complex penetration tests and adversarial exercises.
• Deep knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK and threat-informed testing.
• Strong AWS/Azure/GCP security knowledge including identity and workloads.
• Experience with security frameworks (OWASP, NIST, CIS Controls).
• Advanced knowledge of networks, OS, identity systems, APIs.

Responsibilities

• Lead penetration testing, adversarial emulation, and threat-based assessments.
• Plan, execute, and report complex security assessments across infra, apps, cloud, APIs, and databases.
• Direct ACE engagements, coordinate stakeholders, manage risk, and deliver findings.
• Provide technical leadership across concurrent initiatives while testing hands-on.
• Define testing strategies, review findings, and guide remediation to reduce risk.
• Partner with IR, engineering, product, and business teams to identify vulnerabilities.
• Drive automation and AI/ML-enabled security capabilities in Red Team services.
• Communicate risks and impacts to executives and technical audiences.
