Job summary

The City of Durham's Durham Parks and Recreation department seeks a program leader to support Specialized Recreation, focusing on engagement with participants of all abilities and collaboration with community partners.

You will supervise activities, develop programs, manage data in Active.net, assist with budgets, and promote safety and excellent customer service while coordinating with Latino outreach for bilingual communications.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• Two years of experience working with diverse groups in a recreational setting.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
• First Aid/CPR/AED – with Anaphylaxis and Epinephrine Auto Injector Certification within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and supervises various recreational activities in multiple spaces.
• Develops and implements programs for diverse groups; determines demographics and objectives.
• Researches and gathers resources for programs; maintains inventory; orders supplies.
• Oversees facility operations and maintenance; opens and closes the facility; supervises field rentals.
• Ensures participants have an exemplary customer service experience; answers questions and assists requests.
• Becomes well-versed in department structure to direct patrons to staff.
• Enters data into Active.net recreation software.
• Maintains records; prepares contracts; vendor forms; timesheets; calendars; assists with budgets.
• Prepares a daily cash report; collects funds for deposit.
• Performs safety and security inspections; submits work order requests.
• Completes accident and incident reports.
• Collaborates with law enforcement on safety; conducts drills as needed.
• Conducts surveys for program evaluation.
