Job summary

KBW Financial Staffing & Recruiting is seeking a Controller for a boutique real estate company in Boston. This role will own the entire accounting function, manage cash, GL, reconciliations, month-end close, and supervise a small staff while partnering with ownership and project managers.

Candidates with 10+ years in real estate or construction, CPA or public accounting is a plus but not required, and strong Excel with ERP familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience.
• Public accounting / CPA is a plus, but not required.
• Experience project-based accounting is preferred.
• Strong Excel and familiarity with ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Own and oversee the entire accounting function, including cash management, general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
• Maintain oversight of financial reporting, internal controls, and operational efficiencies.
• Lead, develop, and mentor a team of 2-3 accountants
• Manage financial systems ensuring compliance and accuracy.
• Collaborate with leadership to provide financial insights supporting strategic decisions.
• Other ad hoc projects as needed
