Job summary

HUB International is seeking an Assistant General Counsel, Real Estate and Commercial Transactions to lead legal work on a vast U.S. and Canadian real estate portfolio. The role requires 10+ years in commercial real estate law and at least 5 years of team leadership.

You will draft, negotiate leases, supervise a team of transactional attorneys, and coordinate with cross‑functional groups to close acquisitions and related deals.

Qualifications

• Active membership in a state bar.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience as an attorney with commercial and transactional experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience leading a team of legal professionals.
• Experience leading a real estate/lease portfolio or related transactional work.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
• Experience reviewing and negotiating commercial leases and related agreements.
• Strong communication with internal stakeholders and outside counsel.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements including leases and related documents for a large U.S./Canada portfolio.
• Interface with leasing, construction, risk management, tax and finance teams on legal matters.
• Manage a team of Transactional Attorneys and Paralegals.
• Oversee landlord/tenant disputes and supervise outside counsel.
• Coordinate review of real estate services agreements and due diligence for acquisitions.
• Organize and maintain case/client files in real estate matters.
