Job summary

HUB International is seeking an Assistant General Counsel for Real Estate and Commercial Transactions to lead the legal function for a vast real estate footprint. The role focuses on leases, negotiations, and strategic advice across a broad portfolio in the U.S. and Canada.

You will oversee a team, coordinate with multiple internal groups, and help drive growth while maintaining rigorous legal standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Active membership in a state bar is required.
• Minimum 10 years of attorney experience in commercial/transactional law.
• Minimum 5 years leading a legal team.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines and pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clients.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements including leases for a large U.S. and Canadian portfolio.
• Advise business groups on legal/commercial matters affecting the portfolio.
• Manage a team of Transactional Attorneys and Paralegals.
• Resolve landlord and tenant disputes and oversee related matters.
• Coordinate leasing docs and due diligence for acquisitions (70+ per year).
• Supervise outside counsel and the review of leasing matters.
