Job summary

AmLaw 200 firm seeks an experienced commercial real estate attorney to join its Real Estate Practice Group in New York as Special Counsel. The ideal candidate handles sophisticated acquisitions, joint ventures, leasing, and financings and manages client relationships and deal execution.

Candidates should have at least 8 years of transactional CRE experience, strong written and verbal skills, and the ability to lead deal teams and mentor junior lawyers.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school with strong academics.
• Bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction. Preference for NY-based candidate.
• At least 8 years in sophisticated commercial real estate transactions.
• Experience leading acquisitions, dispositions, JVs, and leasing across asset classes.

Responsibilities

• Structure, negotiate, document, and close CRE acquisitions and dispositions nationwide.
• Structure and negotiate joint ventures for sponsors and capital partners.
• Handle leasing, sale-leaseback, and net lease transactions for landlords.
• Represent borrowers in construction loans, mortgage, and CTL financings.
• Oversee due diligence, title, survey, and zoning; manage closings and post-closing obligations.
• Supervise and mentor associates and paralegals on deal teams.
• Build and deepen client relationships and contribute to business development.
