Job summary

RailWorks is seeking an experienced Superintendent in New York to oversee all phases of construction projects, coordinating workers, materials, and equipment, while supervising subcontractors and staff to ensure adherence to specifications, schedule, and budget.

The role requires management of contract documents, cost control, safety programs, and liaison with owners, inspectors, and project teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 7 to 10 years of construction management experience.
• Working knowledge of project controls (cost, schedule, change management).
• Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend drawings and specifications.
• Exhibits strong management skills and can motivate employees.
• Track record of successfully executing projects on schedule and within budget.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong client relations, influencing skills and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Develops plans and schedules for completion of construction projects.
• Reviews drawings and designs to ensure that specifications are met.
• Supervises craft workers and ensures all trade contractors conform to project specs and codes.
• Monitors and adheres to budgetary guidelines and cost control measures.
• Monitors quality standards of all jobs and contractor performance.
• Manages contractors’ deliveries, equipment needs, and schedules.
• Ensures inspections are scheduled as appropriate.
• Administers construction contracts and obtains permits and licenses.
• Provides technical assistance regarding construction methods and equipment.
• Tracks schedules and costs to achieve project completion on time and within budget.
• Assists with resolving construction problems and investigates alternative methods.
