Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico is seeking a Cleared Senior/Principal R&D Systems Engineer to lead the secure product realization lifecycle for high-consequence national security systems. The role emphasizes rigorous security, trustworthiness, and assurance across design, production, and sustainment.

Office on-site with a DOE Q security clearance, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and leadership in subsystems security requirements and verification.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Active DOE Q-level security clearance required to start.
• Graduate degree in Engineering or a highly related field is desirable.
• Experience with threat modeling, risk assessment, systems security engineering, and application of NIST SP 800-160/RMF/800-53 controls.
• Strong written and verbal communication and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead secure product realization lifecycle for high-consequence national security systems.
• Apply NIST SP 800-160 v1r1 and Nuclear Enterprise Assurance practices to integrate security across the lifecycle.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to mitigate subversion risks and ensure security controls.
• Develop and maintain security assurance documentation and evidence packages.
• Provide technical leadership in model-based systems engineering and security modeling.
• Present security assessments to management and external stakeholders.
