Job summary

ABB Distribution Solutions is seeking an electrical engineer to contribute to MV switchgear and related devices. You will work hybrid in Mebane, NC, collaborating with ABB factories in MX, DE, CZ and the US to develop innovative solutions, document results, and support IP strategy.

The role requires 5–8 years in electrical power equipment, MV product design proficiency, and knowledge of relevant standards. You will participate in certification efforts and maintain high product quality through

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred).
• 5-8 years of experience in the electrical power equipment industry.
• Proficiency in MV electrical products design, preferably MV Reclosers or related equipment.
• Working knowledge of simulation software (dielectric, thermal, structural).
• Knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, and UL standards.
• Candidates must already have work authorization to work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Maintain expertise in MV switchgear and related devices by integrating latest developments.
• Collaborate with ABB factories globally to solve problems and validate hypotheses.
• Document work results and designs for ongoing maintenance and IP strategies.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE C37.20.6, ANSI, UL, CSA, IEC standards and participate in certification efforts.
• Lead root-cause analysis and design reviews to maintain product quality.
