Job summary

ABB is seeking a qualified engineer to contribute to MV switchgear development at the North American Technology Center in Mebane, NC. You will lead design reviews, reliability analyses, and IP strategies while collaborating with ABB factories worldwide to deliver robust electrical solutions.

The role requires 5-8 years in electrical power equipment, with MV product design experience and strong knowledge of IEEE/ANSI standards. This is a hybrid position in the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred).
• 5-8 years of experience in electrical power equipment industry, MV Reclosers or related products.
• Proficiency in MV electrical products design and related standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain recognized expertise in MV switchgear and testing devices and integrate latest developments.
• Collaborate with ABB factories in MX, DE, CZ, and US to solve problems and validate ideas.
• Document work results to enable maintenance and future improvements.
• Understand and initiate IP generation; contribute to project IP strategy.
• Lead root-cause analysis, design reviews, and reliability engineering for quality.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, and UL standards.
